Conservation Village

The Conservation Village Program represents JAWI’s holistic approach to developing conservation-based villages that integrate ecological, social, and economic aspects. Kemuning Village has been selected as the primary site for implementing this program, given its strong potential as a model for an environmentally friendly village grounded in biodiversity. Through this initiative, JAWI promotes sustainable natural resource management by positioning local communities as key actors in every stage of the process.

One of the main focuses of this program is the development of wildlife-based ecotourism that leverages local biodiversity potential. Various activities have been carried out, including comparative studies, business model development, and the implementation of tourism packages that directly involve the community. This approach not only raises public awareness about the importance of conservation but also creates new economic opportunities through niche tourism. The integration of conservation and tourism thus becomes a strategic pathway to generate incentives for communities to protect their environment.

In addition, the program is supported by institutional strengthening and collaboration with multiple stakeholders, including government bodies and the private sector. Initiatives such as the development of the ProKlim program and Watershed Care Village (Desa Peduli DAS) reflect JAWI’s efforts to align local actions with broader policy frameworks. Through this collaborative approach, the village serves not only as a site of intervention but also as a hub for innovation in sustainable landscape management. Overall, the program underscores that successful conservation depends on active community engagement and the integration of diverse interests within a sustainable framework.
